The 'Physical Education & Sports' aspect of our
programme at AG Home is used as a rehabilitative
tool in Andrew & Grace Home and has been ongoing
since the Home was established in 1998.

By engaging them in physical (competitive and non-competitive) sports and games, the
Home seeks to inculcate a healthy and well-rounded lifestyle.
Through the activities, we aim to foster
teamwork among the girls, build up self-discipline
through goals setting and rigorous
physical training, and strengthen their physique
(some of whom have abused their bodies with drugs or
addictions). These sports and games not only provide
the girls the means to cope and channel their emotions,
but also an avenue for the girls to discover their interests and potentials.
When we started in sports programme, it was all
about running. But today, we have expanded the scope
to the learning of and participation in a lot of other sports. The girls
in the Home are currently learning Frisbee, Floorball,
Handball, Yoga , Swimming, Aerobics, Soccer,
Windsurfing and Sailing. More sport programmes are
being lined up for the girls -
Rugby, Netball, Archery, Rock Climbing, Triathlon,
and even overseas trips to Mount Kinabalu and Thailand.
Providing this wide variety of activities is a great
way for the girls
to learn and gain
knowledge of a particular sport and to provide an
avenue for them to consider which sport they would
really be keen to excel in. Whatever the case may
be, the aim of these sporting activities are for to enjoy
and allowing them to be part of the girls' life.

Testimonies
Andrew Hutcheon,
a Scot, is a Sport Management lecturer in Simei ITE. He was
invited to the Home for a dinner by an ex-lecturer. In the midst of discussion, he volunteered to teach
the girls soccer. Andrew is a very committed coach who comes
weekly to train the girls and bring
joy to their lives. They enjoy learning soccer from Coach Andrew and have a positive
attitude towards the sport. Read his
testimony here
