AG Home was founded by Pastor Andrew Choo and his wife Grace.
The Choos' 4-room HDB flat in Yishun was the first residence used to provide a refuge for troubled youths and their families. When the numbers seeking temporary refuge and shelter grew too large, Pastor Andrew rented a landed property in November 1998 at 15 Jalan Basong to provide the facilities needed for the helping program.
With this residential facility, AG Home was born.
Problems with the tenancy agreement led the Home to shift to 65 Dedap Road in November 2004. The new premises however could only house up to 8 residents at one time, and the numbers were increasing rapidly as more and more girls came to seek help.
Due to the expanding needs of the Home, the Home relocated to 116 Lorong J & 119 Lorong K Telok Kurau, a 3-storey Girls Hostel and 4-storey Boys Hostel that gave a new lease of life and provided room and board for up to 60 teenage girls
The Home catered to the needs of a minority of Singapore’s youth from its Telok Kurau premises for 5 years before moving to its current premises at 6A Mattar Road when the lease of the land drew to a close.
At its new Home on 6A Mattar Road – an old 4 storey primary school building – the Home continues in its mission to provide a temporary shelter and a place of refuge to teenaged girls who are in need of love, guidance and compassion.
